International & Comparative Law

Nearly every field of law now contains key international elements. From moving goods and services across national boundaries, to advocating for global human rights, to working on complex immigration issues, students who focus on international law are prepared to practice in an increasingly integrated legal environment. International law course offerings emphasize the interaction of multiple legal systems on transactions and dispute resolution.

To learn more about practicing international law, consider participating in the Immigration Law Clinic, where student clinicians perform direct client representation for immigrant communities. MSU Law's summer externship program in Ottawa, Ontario also provides students with the chance to immerse themselves in the social and political institutions of Canada. Finally, the dual degree program between MSU Law and the University of Ottawa offers students the opportunity to earn legal degrees in the U.S. and Canada in only four years.
