About the Civil Rights Clinic

Students in this clinic will represent civil rights litigants in federal court, with a focus on assisting prisoners incarcerated in Michigan prisons.  Cases will require students to investigate case facts, perform research, develop and effectuate trial strategies, engage in all aspects of trial, participate in any necessary discovery and motion practice, and prepare relevant briefs for filing with the Court.  A commitment of two semesters are required for students enrolling in the Civil Rights Clinic.  Prerequisites: students should have completed all first year classes successfully.  You must either be enrolled in Evidence or have completed it to be part of the Civil Rights Clinic.  It is suggested that you take or have taken Civil Procedure II.
