What was your experience with MSU Law?
The greatest asset of the Law College is the sense of community among students. Law school is a challenging professional and personal endeavor, regardless of where you chose to attend. At Michigan State, I found myself excelling in my studies because of the people with whom I was fortunate enough to work alongside on a daily basis. In today's legal market, a friend can make a world of difference and there is no better friend to have than a fellow Spartan.

How did extracurricular activities influence your success?
Strong communication skills and experience are very important to a successful career in litigation. As a notes editor on the Michigan State Law Review and a Competitor on the Michigan State Moot Court & Trial Advocacy Board, I was able to improve upon my communication skills by working with successful practitioners, faculty, and students in representing the Law College. I was also able to gain key insights and litigation experience through my externships with multiple state prosecuting offices. The best way to find out if you really like an area of law is to get out of the classroom and see how it works.

What advice would you offer to those thinking about a career in law?
Undertaking a career in law can create many opportunities and be very rewarding, but it is a path that should be considered carefully beforehand. Seriously consider your personal reasoning for seeking a law degree and your long-term commitment to that reasoning. Before applying to law school, do your homework by investigating the legal career paths to which you aspire through informational internships and interviews. Most importantly, be sure to seriously assess your financial position and consider the financial implications of attending law school.

Is there any additional insight you would like to share?
I owe my career and many of my most valued friendships to my time spent in East Lansing. Michigan State is a place I will always remember because of the great opportunities I was given, the tough challenges I faced, and the incredible people that helped me through the experience.
