Daniel W. Linna Jr., Assistant Dean, Director of LegalRnD – Center for Legal Services Innovation, & Professor in Residence
Dan Linna brings extensive experience in private law practice to MSU Law. He joined Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn in 2005, after clerking for U.S. Court of Appeals Judge James L. Ryan, Sixth Circuit. Linna was a partner in Honigman’s Litigation Department. He has significant experience litigating and resolving complex commercial, contract, and bankruptcy disputes and has tried several cases before judges and arbitrators. Dan also was a member of Honigman's Automotive and Manufacturing, e-Discovery and Information Management, Commercial Transactions, and Social, Mobile, and Emerging Media groups. He has presented on a numerous subjects, including supply-contracting best practices, the common-interest privilege and joint-defense agreements, information privacy issues and best practices, and has experience negotiating and drafting supply agreements. Linna was also a member of Honigman’s Committee on Minority Attorney Initiatives and led its recruiting subcommittee. Linna graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. He also earned a master’s degree in public policy and administration from Michigan State University, a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Michigan State University.
Shawn Calabrese, Associate Director
Shawn Calabrese joined the CSO team in 2013 after practicing in courts throughout Michigan for a Lansing-area law firm. A 2010 graduate of MSU Law, Shawn also earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations from Ithaca College. Shawn facilitates student participation in a number of practitioner and alumni activities. He coordinates programs like the practitioner-student mentor program, bi-annual swearing in ceremonies, and the MSU Law Alumni Reception at the State Bar of Michigan annual meeting. Shawn actively participates in local, state, and nationwide bar association events and assists students and alumni from the MSU Law Indigenous Law & Policy Center.
Kristen Hintz, Associate Director
Kristen Hintz joined the CSO team in 2010. Before that, she worked at the MSU Eli Broad College of Business advising MBA students pursuing careers in supply chain management. She participated in employer relation efforts at the business college for more than 10 years. Kristen is a certified resume writer. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology from Hope College and a master’s degree in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University. Kristen coordinates career related program including the fall and spring mock interview programs, manages the Presidential Management Fellowship process, and assists students interested in intellectual property law.
Beth Wickwire, Associate Director
Beth Wickwire brings extensive experience with judicial clerkships and private law practice to the CSO team. She previously worked at the University of Michigan Law School Office of Career Planning as its judicial clerkship adviser, where she drew on her experiences as a judicial clerk and in the private sector. Beth subsequently worked as a judicial law clerk in Michigan’s 17th Circuit Court and as a research attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals. Beth has earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies and psychology from the University of Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan Law School. Immediately after law school, she worked as a judicial law clerk in Michigan’s 26th Circuit Court. She was also an associate attorney with the litigation and appellate practice groups of a Detroit-based law firm. Beth has co-authored articles on litigation strategy and judicial clerkships and presented on clerkship issues at the National Association for Law Placement’s annual education conference.
Maria Jandernoa, Office Coordinator for Career Development
Before she joined the CSO team, Maria Jandernoa taught science and English at Waldron Elementary and Middle School in Fowler, Michigan. Maria has significant experience implementing technology in educational environments, including as a “technology trainer” at Waldron. Maria earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education, with certifications in integrated science and English, from Central Michigan University. As the Office Coordinator for Career Development, Maria helps direct students along the CSO career-development roadmap, coordinates programming and events, helps manage employer relations and recruiting on campus, helps manage the CSO’s social media, and helps implement systems, processes, and technology to improve the CSO team’s delivery of services and capture and utilize data.
