“A fundamental strength of MSU Law is the faculty - everyone with whom I have interacted has been welcoming, helpful, and willing to take the time to explain difficult concepts during and outside of class.”

Allen Clarkson was initially attracted to MSU Law by the International Law program offerings and the ReInvent Law Laboratory. “I have a background in technology and knew that the work of the ReInvent Law group would be a good fit for my experience,” he said. “I also wanted to attend a big name school for the connections and recognition that would bring with it.” He visited MSU in the spring before his 1L year and said he knew that the town, the campus programs, and the community would be an excellent support for his study of law.

“A fundamental strength of MSU Law is the faculty - everyone with whom I have interacted has been welcoming, helpful, and willing to take the time to explain difficult concepts during and outside of class,” Allen said. He enjoys the opportunity to study at a small, private law college while also having access to the resources of a major research institution.

As a non-traditional student, he found that Career Services provided valuable assistance in securing an internship. “Through their persistence and their understanding of the needs of non-traditional students, I found a meaningful internship works with my schedule,” he said.

He also credits his involvement with ReInvent Law as a window for opportunities to interact with academics and practicing professionals across the US and in foreign countries. “The study abroad program in London was invaluable not only for the substantive coursework, but also for the opportunity to present at the concluding conference and make meaningful connections with legal professionals in the UK,” he said.
