"It is very rewarding to practice in the nation's capital amongst attorneys from around the world. It's always been my desire to work here."

Bryan Efrain Concepcion provides legal counsel to senior officials of the Department of Housing and Urban Development related to the Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA), mortgage-backed securities, and other matters affecting GNMA. He also provides legal counsel concerning the interpretation and application of the GNMA multiclass guide as well as federal and state statutes involving financial institutions in the secondary mortgage market.

"The most rewarding part of my job is that I continue to apply the legal writing and advocacy skills I acquired during law school and my professional work experiences," he said. "It is very rewarding to practice in the nation's capital amongst attorneys from around the world. It's always been my desire to work here."

Bryan maintained a broad course of studies while enrolled at MSU Law that included clinical education and a Washington, D.C. externship. During his time in D.C., he worked for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and assisted with employment discrimination appeals. His broad coursework allowed him to offer more to employers. "The ability to perform well in different subject matters demonstrated my ability to adapt to the needs of my employer," he said. "Moreover, my experience in specific practice areas demonstrated my interest."

Bryan said the strength of the Law College can be pinned on the clinical professors, who provide students with the opportunity to develop practical skills in addition to the knowledge obtained in the classroom, particularly Professor Brian Gilmore and the Housing Law Clinic. "The faculty at MSU Law is an invaluable asset that distinguishes the school from amongst the others."
