“Seeing the professors in action and talking with students really emphasized all the opportunities available and the strong programs MSU Law has to offer. After my visit, I knew I wanted to go to law school at Michigan State.”

Kate Hall chose MSU College of Law for the school’s balance between academics and community. “All of the faculty, staff and students I encountered during my visit made me feel welcome, and they were all happy to be at MSU,” she said. “It made me feel comfortable in my decision to become a Spartan.”

Before law school Kate took on internships in the public and private sectors for four years, and she interned at a political firm during a semester abroad in London. Though she’s not sure what area of law she wants to practice, her experiences inspired a strong interest in criminal law and intellectual property law.

During her search for law schools, Kate read the MSU Law website and looked at third-party sites to gauge overall student satisfaction during and after their experience at MSU Law. “Almost everything I read gave MSU Law a glowing review,” she said. “I also attended a visit day to get my own impression. Seeing the professors in action and talking with students really emphasized all the opportunities available and the strong programs MSU Law has to offer. After my visit, I knew I wanted to go to law school at Michigan State.”

Kate recommends that prospective law students keep an open mind when searching for schools. “Go with your instincts; they are usually right,” she said. “Also, visit in person when you narrow it down to your top choices. An in-person visit allows you to experience the atmosphere, interact with possible fellow peers and really make an informed decision.”
