“MSU Law allows students to customize their legal education through fourteen focus areas and numerous dual degree programs.”

Soon after Tim Lee began working for Michigan's state government in Lansing, he learned of MSU College of Law's stellar reputation in the legal community. “After making the decision to attend law school, MSU Law was the number one school on my list,” he said. “MSU Law allows students to customize their legal education through fourteen focus areas and numerous dual degree programs.”

Tim said law students are not exaggerating when they describe their workload. “It’s unlike anything I have experienced in previous educational settings,” Tim said. “It is challenging and requires students to be organized and diligent with their studies. However, when you are passionate and enjoy the topics you are studying, it is worth it.”

His favorite 1L class was Contracts with Professor Daniel Barnhizer. “Before entering law school, I never would have imagined that my favorite class would be Contracts,” he said. “Professor Barnhizer, using a combination of the Socratic method and lecture, made the challenging topic enjoyable. In addition to teaching contract theory, Professor Barnhizer fostered an environment in which students were required to think beyond the classroom and apply those theories to real life occurrences.”

When Tim was not in class or studying, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, and dog, Reilley. “We loved to travel throughout Michigan and take advantage of everything East Lansing has to offer,” he said. “Being a part of a Big Ten university provides numerous options for entertainment, like Spartan football and basketball games, and shows at the Wharton Center.”
