Every interaction I had with professors or current students convinced me that this is was the school I needed to be at. MSU Law’s strength is in its brand but more importantly in the level of care that each professor I have encountered. When professors say ‘my doors are open’ they truly mean it.

Monica Macias chose MSU Law for its inclusive community. “Every interaction I had with professors or current students convinced me that this is was the school I needed to be. Not one person made me feel like I was a number,” she said. “MSU Law’s strength is in its brand, but more importantly in the level of care expressed by each professor I have encountered. When a professor says ‘my door is open’ he or she truly means it.”

In her time at MSU Law, Monica has received meaningful support through the diversity services office and the Academic Success Program. “Diversity Services helped to make me feel at home and encouraged me to get involved in the Hispanic Latino Law Society, which I am now VP for,” she said. “The Academic Success Program helped tremendously with preparing me for the year and for final exams. I would not have been successful without the check in's with ASP and the tools and resources they provided.”

In particular, Monica appreciated the support she received from her faculty mentor, Goldie Pritchard of the ASP office. “I met with her often during the year and she helped prepare me (for exams) and answered all the questions I had as a 1L,” Monica said. “She prepared me for my future career by helping me identify my strengths and my weaknesses. She was even more helpful during the times I simply stopped by her office to have someone to talk to.”
