Financial Aid Program Expanded for 2012

The Michigan State University College of Law entering class of 2012 will benefit from a Board of Trustees decision to expand the Law College’s generous scholarship and grant program.

According to Charles Roboski, assistant dean for admissions and financial aid, the Law College expects to provide as many as 60 full-tuition scholarships and 90 partial-tuition awards to students who will begin their studies at MSU Law in August 2012. Scholarships are awarded to students based on past academic performance and Law School Admission Test scores. Grants are offered to those who meet specific qualifications and demonstrate financial need.

The expanded financial aid program allows the Law College to provide scholarship and grant aid to more than half of the entering class. This level of funding—which is higher than that at most other law schools—reflects MSU Law’s commitment to offering a quality legal education that provides the greatest possible value. “Especially in the present economy, we are dedicated to helping incoming students meet the cost of their legal education,” notes Dean Joan Howarth.

All candidates admitted to the Law College prior to February 15 will be given full consideration for scholarship aid; a separate scholarship application is not required. Candidates who wish to be considered for need-based grant assistance must submit all required application materials by February 20.
