Scholarship Assistance Based on Academic Performance at MSU Law in Year One

The College of Law automatically awards scholarship aid to students who achieve a high level of academic success in the first year of their studies.  All first-year students who achieve a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher (based on a minimum of 24 credit hours) are guaranteed a scholarship of half-tuition, three-quarter tuition, or full tuition.  Students who entered the Law College with a less generous award qualify for a higher level of scholarshiop aid based on first-year performance.  Data for new and increased scholarship aid for recent incoming classes is provided below.

2014 Incoming Class Data

The following awards were given in July 2014 to students who had no renewable aid in their first year at MSU Law, but who achieved a first-year GPA of 3.50 or higher:

  • 1 full-tuition award
  • 1 three-quarter tuition award
  • 1 half-tuition award

The following awards were increased in July 2014 for students who achieved a first-year GPA of 3.50 or higher:

  • 11 full-tuition awards
  • 5 three-quarter tuition awards

2013 Incoming Class Data

The following awards were given in July 2013 to students who had no renewable aid in their first year at MSU Law, but who achieved a first-year GPA of 3.50 or higher:

  • 7 half-tuition awards

The following awards were increased in July 2013 for students who achieved a first-year GPA of 3.50 or higher:

  • 7 full-tuition awards
  • 4 three-quarter tuition awards
  • 3 half-tuition awards

  • 1 full-tuition award

  • 4 full-tuition awards
  • 1 half-tuition award

  • 1 full-tuition award
  • 4 three-quarter tuition awards
  • 4 the half-tuition awards

The following awards were increased in August 2011 for students who had a less generous scholarship award in their first year at MSU Law:

  • 9 full-tuition awards
  • 2 three-quarter tuition awards
  • 2 half-tuition awards
