MSU Law Clinical Programs: Mission Statement

MSU College of Law Clinical Programs' mission is to provide an exceptional legal education to second and third-year law students in a high-energy clinical setting dedicated to teaching substantive law and applying that law to real-life situations in a "small law firm environment." We are committed to enhancing our students' analytical and practical proficiency, to providing clinicians with multiple opportunities to engage in scholarship, and to instilling in them the highest ethical standards and concern for those who otherwise have no meaningful access to justice. We ensure that the clinical experience fosters law students professional and personal growth, their cross-cultural and cross-social awareness, and responsibility for themselves and their clients. Our clinical students approach their clients in a problem-solving mode – they listen to their clients, analyze their circumstances, counsel them wisely, advocate for their interests, and produce excellent-quality work.
