Professor LaRose has been teaching legal writing and advocacy since 2003. She also has taught Child Advocacy and Criminal Law. Before teaching, Professor LaRose was an assistant prosecutor, a family court referee (presiding over child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, and child custody and support cases), and a litigator at a private firm, handling high-profile cases such as a class action on behalf of early retirees from the State of Michigan, the trial of a notorious Michigan serial killer, and a civil rights case against the City of Lansing for the shooting of a teenager. She has extensive trial and appellate court experience and has appeared before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the Michigan Supreme Court, and the Michigan Court of Appeals.
