  • Biography

    Connell Alsup began his career in student affairs at MSU College of Law in 1994, as the assistant dean for student affairs and was later elevated to associate dean for student affairs, until his retirement in January, 2017. He has taught Professional Responsibility, Payment Systems, and Commercial Transactions Survey at MSU Law. Since 2004 he has been serving on the State Bar of Michigan Standing Committee on Character and Fitness.

    Dean Alsup earned his Ph.D. in higher, adult and lifelong education from Michigan State University. He is an alumnus of the Detroit College of Law, now known as Michigan State University College of Law, having earned his J.D. cum laude. He earned his M.A. in business management from Central Michigan University and a B.A. in political science from the University of Detroit-Mercy.

    In law school Dean Alsup was a member of Law Review, president of the Wolverine Student Bar Association, and a teaching assistant for Research, Writing and Advocacy. Following law school graduation, Dean Alsup taught Research, Writing and Advocacy at the Detroit College of Law and Business Law at the American Institute for Paralegal Studies. He was a buyer for both Chevrolet Motor Division, Ford Motor Company, and went on to serve for 14 years in various capacities at Comerica Bank.
