April 26-29, 2011
Professor Brenner attended the second Women’s Power Summit on Law & Leadership in Austin, Texas. The inaugural Summit took place under Professor Brenner’s leadership in 2009. The event convened selected leading women in law to explore how women lawyers can attain and exercise power, and use that power for themselves and on behalf of other women.

Professors Brenner and Knake will be speaking at the Law & Society Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California, about their article "Rethinking Gender Equality in the Legal Profession’s Pipeline to Power: A Study on Media Coverage of Supreme Court Nominees."

June 20-22, 2011
A poster documenting the research of Professors Brenner and Knake on the depiction of Supreme Court nominees in the media will be featured at the Association of American Law Schools Workshop on Women Rethinking Equality.

MSU Law Review Symposium: Gender & the Legal Profession’s Pipeline to Power
This event, organized by Professors Brenner and Knake, will feature keynote speaker Linda Greenhouse, Senior Research Scholar in Law, Knight Distinguished Journalist-in-Residence, and Joseph Goldstein Lecturer in Law, Yale Law School.  The symposium will bring together an interdisciplinary group of scholars from the fields of law, gender studies, political science, anthropology, and beyond.  Professors Brenner and Knake will speak about their research on the media’s depiction of Supreme Court nominees and what their research results might reveal about gender disparity in the legal profession’s pipeline to power.
