MSU Law Moot Court & Trial Advocacy Board Team Wins National Criminal Mock Trial Competition

East Lansing, MI — The Michigan State University College of Law Mock Trial Team took first place in the first annual GGU Bernie L. Segal Criminal Mock Trial Competition: In Vino Veritas, which was held November 1 - 4, 2012, at Golden Gate University School of Law.

MSU Law was one of 12 law schools from across the country that competed in 21 trials held in five different Bay Area courthouses. The team of third-year students James Vicchairelli, Carmen Dorris, Nick Standiford, and Ali Rosloff beat Stetson University College of Law in the final round of the competition. James Vicchairelli was also awarded Best Closing Argument.

“These students put a tremendous amount of time and effort into preparing for this competition, and they earned this win,” said Veronica Valentine McNally, associate director of the Trial Advocacy Programs. “Under the leadership of Adjunct Professor Steve Cabadas, this team was unstoppable.”

As the winner, MSU Law is invited to compete in the American Bar Association National Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition hosted by the Criminal Justice Section of the ABA and the John Marshall School of Law in Chicago, Illinois, every year.
