MSU Law Hosts Annual Midwest Securities Law Institute

NOTE: The 2013 Midwest Securities Law Institute was cancelled as a result of the SEC’s inability to participate due to the government shutdown.

Michigan State University College of Law hosts leading financial industry experts to discuss current issues in securities regulation. The event will be held in the Castle Board Room at the Law College Building on Friday, October 11, 2013.

 The 2013 Midwest Securities Law Institute brings together attorneys, corporate counsel, arbitrators, and financial industry professionals to receive updates from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and experts in securities law and litigation. The event is sponsored by the State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law Section.

Topics include developments in broker-dealer and investment adviser regulation, broker-dealer arbitration and litigation, SEC enforcement, SEC “transactional” hot topics, and State of Michigan investigations and enforcement.

The luncheon speaker is Patricia Geoghegan, acting special master for TARP Executive Compensation, U.S. Department of the Treasury.
