External Scholarships Available
External scholarships are additional opportunities for law students to consider for financial resources. Each are unique in regards to criteria and application requirements. Often external scholarships are not available to first-year students; however, the following list while not comprehensive may offer a good starting point.
2025 Donor Application Scholarships
Donor Application Scholarship submission deadline: Friday, May 31, 2025, 5:00pm ET
Scholarships are open to rising 2L or 3L MSU Law students for the Fall 2025 academic year. To be considered applicants must complete and sumbit the application form along with the associated one-page essay, having omitted student's name and other personal information from the essay EXCEPT student number to externalfunds@law.msu.edu by Donor Application Scholarship submission deadline. Associated criteria for one-page essay for each scholarship is provided on the 3rd floor scholarship board.
Recepients will be notified by email no later than Monday, June 30, 2025 via email and funds will be applied to student accounts for Fall 2025.

- One (1) scholarship of $1,593.00
☐ The John R. Grace Law Review Scholarship
- One (1) scholarship of $500.00
☐ State Bar of Michigan Intellectual Property Endowed Scholarship
- One (1) scholarship of $1,191.00
Additional external scholarships (as they become avaialble) are posted on the in-person bulletin board on the 3rd floor of the Law College around the corner of the Office of Student Affairs. Students are encouraged to check the bulletin board regularly for current available opportunities.
