The Indigenous Law & Policy Center houses the Certificate Program and provides services to Native students and students studying Indigenous Law. Staff in the Center provide classes for first-year law students to ensure they are receiving all the assistance they need. The Center also organizes teams for the National Native American Law Students Association Moot Court Competition and provides guidance and direction for the local NALSA chapter. Center staff work with other groups on campus, such as the American Indian and Indigenous Studies department, the Native American Institute and MSU Extension.
The Center and Indian Law Clinic co-host an annual Indigenous Law Conference and a yearly speaker series, both of which bring speakers from around the country to discuss issues involving indigenous justice systems, tribal sovereignty, and self-determination. Past conferences include:
