2025 Competition Information

From March 22-23, 2025, Michigan State University College of Law hosted the fourth annual Moot Court Competition focusing on issues of Gender, Sexuality, and Law. The competition was hosted virtually, with all rounds of arguments held online over Zoom.

In 2025, the competition featured 20 teams representing 14 Law Schools (Table 1: Participating Law Schools 2025), and 40 advocates competed in three preliminary rounds. The top eight teams advanced to the quarterfinals for three elimination rounds, four teams advanced to the semi-final rounds, and two teams competed in the final round of the competition.

2025 Final Round

The 2025 final round was judged by:

The Student Leadership Team for the Competition included Jessica Boeve ('26), Stephanie Diamond ('25), and Noah Martin ('25).

2025 MSU College of Law Team Information
Michigan State University fielded two teams. Team members included Daniel Brown (’26), Hannah Mahn (’26), Ethan Merenda (’26), and Macey McCandlish (’26). One team, composed of Daniel Brown (’26) and Hannah Mahn (’26), won the Second-Best Brief Award and made it to the semi-final round before a tough loss to Georgetown University Law Center. In addition to these team awards, Daniel Brown won Best Oralist, Ethan Merenda won Second-Best Oralist.
