2026 Competition Information

From March 21-22, 2026, Michigan State University College of Law hosted the fifth annual Moot Court Competition focusing on issues of Gender, Sexuality, and Law. The competition was hosted virtually, with all rounds of arguments held online over Zoom.

In 2026, the competition featured 32 teams representing 22 Law Schools (Table 1: Participating Law Schools 2026), and 64 advocates competed in three preliminary rounds. The top eight teams advanced to the quarterfinals for three elimination rounds, four teams advanced to the semi-final rounds, and two teams competed in the final round of the competition.

2026 MSU College of Law Student Involvement 
The Student Leadership Team for the Competition included Jessica Boeve (’26), Julia Walters (’26), and Lillie Rae (’28).

2026 MSU College of Law Team Information
Michigan State University fielded two teams. Team members included Natalie Prestegaard (’27), Aubrey Brolsma (’27), Riley Houldsworth (’27) and Olivia Grates (’27). Both teams advanced to the Quarter Final Rounds. The team composed of Natalie Prestegaard and Aubrey Brolsma made it to the final round before a tough loss to the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. In addition to these team awards, Aubrey Brolsma won Second -Best Oralist.
