Animals in Wrong Places: Law Society and the Right of Place

Animals are often considered to be in the “wrong place.” What happens when wildlife moves into an ecosystem where the species is considered non-native or unwelcome; when companion animals are separated from their families because of housing restrictions, domestic violence, or immigration policies; or when animals are raised in industrial settings built around human needs?

Join the MSU Animal Law Program for a multidisciplinary conversation with scholars, practitioners, and advocates as they share their expertise and consider emerging questions about where animals are allowed to be and the conditions in which they live.

It will be a day of thought-provoking conversations that will examine how the law responds to changing societal views and scientific understandings of animals, and whether competing interests can be addressed in ways that give animals more opportunities to thrive.
